Data Privacy Specialist (m/f/d)

Main tasks

To support the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of data protection practices across the company in accordance with applicable data privacy laws (e.g. GDPR), industry standards, and internal policies. You will provide guidance and support to internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with personal data processing regulations. This role involves collaboration with various teams and external partners, making it a pivotal position within our organisation.

Privacy by Design & Default

  • Collaborate with business and IT teams to embed privacy requirements into new products, processes, and systems.
  • Review and advise on data flows, privacy impact assessments (DPIAs), and records of processing activities (RoPAs).

 

Policy & Governance

  • Develop, review, and update data privacy policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Maintain and update the data processing inventory and support third-country transfer assessments.
  • Monitor and report on data privacy KPIs and assist in regulatory reporting where needed.

 

Compliance Operations

  • Serve as the operational point of contact for data subject rights requests (DSARs) and support timely responses in line with legal obligations.
  • Serve as the point of contact for data protection authorities and regulators on operational matters.

 

Awareness & Training

  • Develop and deliver tailored privacy awareness initiatives for business users, IT, marketing, HR, and other stakeholders.
  • Support onboarding and role-specific training on data handling and retention policies.

 

Incident & Risk Handling

  • Assist in data breach assessments and root cause analysis in coordination with other departments like risk, IT and cybersecurity teams.
  • Track remediation activities and support business areas in reducing privacy risks.

 

Vendor & Third-Party Management

  • Assist with vendor privacy risk assessments and contract reviews (focus on SCCs, DPAs, TIA support).
  • Ensure ongoing oversight of privacy obligations for data processors and sub-processors.

Your profile - Professional experience/ personality/ languages/software

  • Proven experience in data privacy (and protection).
  • Knowledge of European regulations related to Privacy and Data Protection.
  • Familiarity with data mapping tools, OneTrust, or similar GRC (Governance, Risk& Compliance) platforms is not needed but a plus.
  • Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail.
  • Proactive, pragmatic, and solution-oriented attitude.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to translate regulatory requirements into practical operational guidance.
  • Fluent in English and fluent in one of the following languages: French or German; other European languages (NL, ESP, IT) are a plus.

You’ll join the Legal Department, that includes a Data Privacy team of 2 experts. You'll work with the rest of the legal team, our internal Data Privacy network, collaborate with IT, Information Security and other relevant teams (HR, Marketing, Procurement, Underwriting, Claims, Operations) to ensure that appropriate technical and organizational measures are in place to safeguard data privacy and security. Our legal team is based across the European MSIG countries.
 
Your first year with us:
  • 0-3 months: You will get to know the organization, make initial contacts and familiarize yourself with your tasks as part of your onboarding. A buddy will be available to you regularly during this time. At this time you will also have your first meeting with the HR department so that any questions or organizational matters can be clarified.
  • 4-6 months: You become more and more familiar with your role and have completed the majority of your onboarding. Your buddy will also support you during this time. The second interview with HR is due.
  • 7-12 months: You have all the information and tools you need to carry out your tasks confidently and independently.
