As a Risk Engineer Construction with us, you are much more than a technical assessor. You serve as the strategic link between local expertise and global knowledge. As part of our dynamic German team, you work in an international environment and, as a member of expert teams and working groups, actively contribute to shaping our digital future. Working closely with underwriters and claims experts, you support clients from both our project and existing client portfolios in the construction sector. In doing so, you help us understand and quantify risks and successfully implement loss mitigation measures. Your expertise in building construction and civil engineering, your interest in risk management, and your enthusiasm for large scale construction projects, particularly in the context of the energy transition, make you an essential part of our team and our growth story.
On a day-to-day basis, you will:
- Risk assessments include the following tasks:
- Risk assessment of large scale construction projects with regard to construction builders risks, third party liability risks, as well as neighborhood and environmental risks.
- Preparation of inspection reports, including recommendations and key areas for loss prevention.
- Calculation of PML and NLE loss expectations.
- Development of risk mitigation measures and their targeted implementation together with our customers.
- Independent planning of site inspections for the current and coming years.
- Flexible travel, approximately 20% to 40%Regular knowledge exchange with key customers.
- Evaluation of project bid documents and coordination with underwriting, particularly in the areas of Construction All Risk and Casualty insurance.
- Close collaboration with underwriting and contribution to portfolio and underwriting strategies.
- Contribution to the further development of systems and processes in close collaboration with underwriting and claims departments.
- Agile way of working with fixed assignments to projects and teams.
- Further development of assessment tools and approaches in close collaboration with the European network.
Who are we looking for?
- You have a degree in civil engineering.
- You have several years of experience in risk engineering or extensive experience in project management, as well as a strong interest in applying your expertise to technical risk management.
- You are characterized by an entrepreneurial mindset, high self motivation, and decisiveness.
- You are eager to drive change, actively shape the future, develop new processes, and test new technologies, including AI.
- You enjoy working in a team as part of a risk engineering community of approximately 45 colleagues across Europe and want to contribute to the culture following the merger.
- You are eager to take ownership of your own client base, manage it, and develop it over the long term as an account engineer.
- You enjoy working closely with underwriting, claims management, and external service providers, and you promote knowledge transfer and support decision making processes.
- You enjoy taking on responsibility and drive your projects and special assignments forward with determination.
- You demonstrate strong negotiation skills and assertiveness.
- You plan and prioritize site visits and desktop inquiries with a high degree of autonomy.
- You have excellent German, both spoken and written, and communicate confidently in English in an international environment.
