Let’s talk about the role:
This role places you at the heart of strategic, profit‑driven underwriting in the Casualty line of business - with a clear focus on the Large Corporate and Higher MidMarket segment. You will take ownership of complex liability risks, shape multinational program structures and strengthen key client and broker relationships at senior level. Your expertise will directly influence portfolio steering, market positioning and the development of tailored risk solutions in a demanding international environment.
On a day-to-day basis, you will:
- Profit-Oriented Underwriting within the framework of line-specific guidelines and authorities, in particular:
- Establishing new and expanding existing customer relationships.
- Risk analysis, calculation of the required premium, as well as preparation and negotiation of offers.
- Review and negotiation of contract wordings.
- Facultative reinsurance placement as required.
- Acceptance of applications and preparation of documentation.
- Participation in annual meetings and client visits.
- Preparation and coordination of underwriting decisions (outside of binding authority).
- Participation in acquisition planning and measures within and across business lines.
- Monitoring of portfolio with regard to economic requirements.
- Servicing and expanding existing customer relationships, brokers, and company-affiliated intermediaries.
- Development of coverage concepts and implementation of international insurance programs as lead insurer.
- Contribution to line strategy, anticipating technical and economic market developments as well as portfolio management measures.
- Initiation and participation in process improvements.
- Representation of Casualty Underwriting at internal and external events.
- Organization, information, and communication within the scope of responsibility.
- Support of account managers in contacts with potential clients.
Who are we looking for?
- Completed training as an insurance clerk or a comparable qualification or degree, combined with 5–10 years of professional experience in underwriting.
- Several years of underwriting experience in Casualty/Liability, ideally with a strong focus on the Large Corporate and Higher MidMarket segment.
- Advanced project management skills.
- Strong willingness to learn as well as expert-level customer focus, teamwork, and communication skills Expert-level negotiation abilities, entrepreneurial mindset, proactive business approach, and high innovation capability.
- Developing awareness of sustainability.
- German language skills at C1 level and English at B1 level.
- Very good MS Office skills.
What you can expect from us?
- 0-3 months: You will get to know the organization, make initial contacts and familiarize yourself with your tasks as part of your onboarding. A buddy will be available to you regularly during this time. At this time you will also have your first meeting with the HR department so that any questions or organizational matters can be clarified.
- 4-6 months: You become more and more familiar with your role and have completed the majority of your onboarding. Your buddy will also support you during this time. The second interview with HR is due.
- 7-12 months: You have all the information and tools you need to carry out your tasks confidently and independently.
